About:
Pidgin Perfect invited members of Glasgow's design community to the gallery space of Ironbbratz Studio's for an evening of cross cultural discussion on the topic of 'Working with Identity'.
Three invited speakers presented a body of work centred around the theme of identity covering various angles, from style and individuality to sexuality and gender roles. The parley offered people the opportunity to pitch in their commentaries and opinions to the conversation to create a forum for discussion.
Participants were asked to create statements, poetry, musings and sketches on post-it notes which would be used after the presentations to create a 'working window' of thoughts to be discussed in the gallery space over drinks and polite conversation.
Speakers on the night were;
Jonathan Pryce
Fashion Communications specialist and co-founder of Les Garcons de Glasgow, one of the city’s major fashion blogs, discussed "Fashion Blogging and Street Style; a Community Beyond Online".
Marina Maclean
The celebrated designer described how street style and individuality of character inspires her when designing for the likes of Pete Doherty.
Pamela Wells
The Glasgow based visual artist presented her talk “Femme Fatale” discussing libertinage and the power of seduction. The influence of social taboos and the sexuality of every day encounters, providing us with a brief encounter with film and noir literature.
